Visions? Vanity, Verity or Vacillation?

The word of the LORD came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”

“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.

The LORD said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”

The word of the LORD came to me again: “What do you see?”

“I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north,” I answered.

The LORD said to me, “From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.

Jeremiah 1:11-14

Have you ever had a vision? Have you ever had a dream? Have you ever sensed that it was from the Lord? Does this happen today or did such things end at some point in history? Do you find it dangerous that someone might say after prayer that they saw something and then provide what they believe is God’s message through that vision? Is this something only prophets do? Even if so, are there prophets today? Are expressions of visions legitimate expressions of the voice of the Lord?

I believe the answer to these questions can be found in the scripture and will be revealed to those who seek Him through His Holy Spirit; therefore, I’d love to hear what God has revealed to you about these questions!
