Who Comes Up With These Statements?

Given the fact we’ve been out of the country for so long I am finding myself greatly interested in reading all the latest news – on the Presidential election, on energy, on sports, on the weather, all of it. I just now read on Reuters where Senator Obama is touting that he has more executive experience than Governor Palin because he has been managing his Presidential campaign for 18 months. It was one of the moments where I had to say, “hmmmmm.” Or, perhaps I should say, “Come on!” or “You’ve got to be kiddin’ me!”

By that reasoning anyone or any dog in America could run for President and tout executive experience. Whoever wrote that line for Senator Obama didn’t have much sense and doesn’t credit us to have much either.

As an aside, I think the executive experience issue for the Oval Office is much ado about very little. Let’s face it, the President and the Vice-President hire thousands of aides who have a lot of experience in areas where they lack it. I’m much more impressed by Governor Palin’s experience as a PTA member, a mom, a coach, and someone who has actually spent time in a Wal-Mart buying for her family and balancing her own budget than I am by anyone’s experience at being wined and dined by lobbyists.

The greatest leader will always be the one who knows how to serve, not how to be served. Some great man taught us all something like that a few years ago.
