Overheard During an Unusually Serene State of My Mind

To build a defense requires laying down my cross….

And, since an amazing teacher once told me, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me,” and I can know that “the LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold[,]” I’m discovering that all the time I spend defending myself is time spent being less like Jesus. I want to be more like Jesus. Romans 8:28-29.
