Here We Go Again – And It’s Not Even Groundhog Day

Those who regularly read this blog know that a little less than a month ago our family of five began our journey back to England. Unfortunately for us, who are still fairly new at the missionary gig, we didn’t have all the correct paperwork and we were deported. Yes, deported. It’s not every American who can say that they have nearly been an illegal immigrant. It’s not every day one can talk about their detention by foreign officials, fingerprintings, and unceremonious returns to their own countries. But, alas, we’ve never really aspired to normalcy.

Anyway, we have our entry clearances now and will be boarding flights at 10:34 a.m. Thursday morning, a day also known as Valentine’s Day here in the States. Thus, if only in my own mind I can claim great husband status because I will have now taken my wife on a four-day weekend to Europe (our failed fiasco of a trip last month) and am returning her to Europe on Valentine’s Day.

Please pray for our travels. Pray specifically that we are able to minister to someone as we go. We will be traveling from 10:34 a.m. U.S. Central Standard Time until 2:40 a.m. U.S. Central Standard Time (and 8:40 a.m. in England) through Chicago, Frankfort, and into Birmingham, UK. We are so thankful that we have been able to afford this difficult learning lesson.

Just for giggles, here are some old pictures I found on my in-laws’ computer that I had never seen. Of course, Tara looks fabulous! I can’t say so much for myself. My hair is a little shorter, though. They are from 2001 and 2002, with the exception of the one of a baby Regan, from 2004.
