Stand in the Gap!

God looked down on Israel and saw a greedy and idolatrous land that was oppressing the poor and not administering justice. As He explained this to Ezekiel, God said:

“I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

Ezekiel 22:30-31.

So God looks throughout the land to see if anyone would stand in the gap for the nation. What do you think he was looking for? I picture Moses, who stood before the Lord and pleaded on behalf of the nation after the golden calf incident. I picture Daniel, who prayed every day, routinely, even in the face of laws forbidding such. It is prayer. It is a person who would cry out to the Lord, in faith, asking for His mercy and love to be poured out on His people.

Just as I discussed a few posts ago about prayer, we must enter into the war, praying at all times in the spirit, interceding on behalf of the church, the nation, and all the saints the world over. We talk about faith in an unseen God who does amazing things, but we don’t pray like we believe in Him. That must change. Commit yourself to prayer. Consider writing down your prayers.

God is sovereign but he amazingly looks to us to intercede and desires a constant conversation with His children.

As a dad of three, I understand.

As you pray, please pray for us (prayer requests at this link) as we continue to follow God’s call on our lives with YWAM, doing missions work around the world.
