I Dare You …

to pray this prayer, expecting God to answer!

“Father, show me what aspect of Your character I need more of in my life today and teach me how to have more of it in my own character.”

I remember the first few times I prayed this prayer after being challenged to pray it by Paul Hawkins, a missionary for past 37 years. God began revealing things like love, comfort, integrity…. And oh the things He began teaching me.

If you have had doubts about whether God speaks today, please please please pray this prayer, in faith, and as you do consider these words of scripture:

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

As you pray in faith, God will give you a word, such as forgiveness, faithfulness, love, etc. Take that word and search the scriptures for places where the Word of God tells about how God is full of such a character trait. Use a concordance if you like and soak in His Word and character. If you feel comfortable doing so, let me know what He shows you! It will be a great encouragement.
