Take a Family Journey

I’m dreaming of a time of rest and discipleship where an entire family can grow closer to their Heavenly Father and to one another, exploring why they are a family, what their destiny is, and how they can make a difference, using their passions, in the world. And I’m dreaming of what it would be like to have this family Sabbath in Kona, Hawaii, a setting where you have the beauty of the ocean and one of the largest missionary training centers in the world.

Can you imagine a “camp” or a retreat where the entire family spent time soaking up and discussing teaching on subjects like “What it means that God is your Father,” “Prayer and hearing God’s voice,” “Developing a Family Belief Tree,” “What is missions all about and how can we be a part?” Much of the teaching and processing would occur in age groupings, but there would also be time for the family to play and pray together. And, the teaching of each day would be on the same subjects for every age, so that at the end of the day everyone would be on the same page together.

Part of the camp would also involve outreach into the local community, sometimes as a family and sometimes with age groupings. These outreaches would apply the teaching.

And, of course, there would be plenty of rest, relaxation and fun packed in as well.

Let’s plan on doing this together in the summer of 2010.
