Mission Statement

F.A.I.T.H.

Families reaching families as Avenues to the Nations, Igniting Passion for God and Compassion for people, Teaching and Training God’s Word with Hearts and hands revealed

Colossians 2:6

FJ Ministries exists to minister to families in all spheres, and specifically to help families called to the mission field follow that call and to learn what it means to live by faith. This happens through:

    • Modeling and Mobilizing: We left our careers as an attorney and an occupational therapist to follow God’s call on our lives. We hope that our step of faith will ignite others who hear God’s call to do the same. Philippians 3:12-17
    • Open Hearts: We cannot be authentic in our faith as Christians without opening our hearts to one another. Honesty and openness is key to our unity. The walls we build (and/or altars to ourselves), particularly in western cultures, to hide our fears and anxieties, must be torn down. 2 Corinthians 6:11-13
    • Open Hands: We will model by having hands ready to help, embrace, and not to defend or to bear a weapon. Our only real enemy is Satan and the spirits who serve his bidding. We need no weapons against one another. We also must be ready to serve those in need. Ephesians 6:10-20; Galatians 5:13-15
    • Teaching/Education/Discipling: Providing educational and training opportunities to individuals, groups, churches, and businesses that enable them to more effectively participate in and contribute to the Great Commission in redemptive and creative ways. Colossians 1:28-29
    • Reconciliation: Facilitating true reconciliation in communities, churches, and families by pointing to the one True Mediator, Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
    • A Focus on Faith: Helping individuals see they must rest in the Lord, trusting Him for everything and how not to be wise in their own eyes. All too often we interpret God’s promises and commands based on our life experiences (we walk by sight) rather than simply believing what He said (walking by faith). Jeremiah 17:5-8; Proverbs 1; Proverbs 3:5-6
    • Counseling: Providing biblical counseling to individuals and families so that the family unit will be strong, healthy, and provide a nurturing, safe environment. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
    • Justice: Calling and working toward justice and protection for the weakest members of society and those unable to fight for themselves with our training as an attorney and a pediatric occupational therapist (working with the developmentally delayed and disadvantaged), so that all are able to realize their God-given potential and destiny. Micah 6:8; James 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 13
    • Networking: Creating networks of people and organizations, including churches, businesses, and social agencies to work together to transform the lives of those participating and help them be more socially and spiritually responsible, passionate and compassionate to see others’ lives changed in the same way. Hebrews 10:19-25
Finances

FJ Ministries (FJM) is a non-profit organization. All profit accrued from the valued services of this organization will be used for operational and staffing expenses and what remains will be given to other missionaries and to churches of like mission.

Donations will be accepted, and are tax exempt as FJM is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. A board of directors, with a treasurer, will oversee all finances to ensure biblical and legal accountability.

Leadership

FJ Ministries will be governed by a Board of Directors. The members of the Board will be Bryan and Tara Riley and at least two other married couples at all times. Current members include RJ and Kimberly Hoelzeman, James and Krissy Dunn, Scott and Dianna Alaniz, and Mike and Charla Roberts. RJ Hoelzeman also serves on the board of another Christian ministry with a Great Commission mindset, Student Mobilization. Kimberly Hoelzeman spent two years working with YWAM and has traveled to Romania and Belarus. Mike Roberts is the CFO of large family business in Fayetteville, Arkansas and has great experience at financial accountability. He and Charla have traveled to Japan and served there, and Mike serves as a missions liaison for his church, organizing missions trips all over the world. James Dunn is a medical doctor and he and his wife, Krissy, spent a month doing medical missions work in Honduras. Scott & Dianna Alaniz have a passion for living a life of faith and for missions. Dianna saw first hand the need in Honduras on a short-term missions trip last year. Scott has worked in investments for years. Bryan served as a corporate attorney for 9 years and as an attorney for 10 years before following God’s call into the ministry. Tara has worked with disabled children, their teachers, and their parents for 10 years in the school systems as a pediatric occupational therapist, enabling the children to access more completely their education, and Charla Roberts is a pediatric speech therapist.

Liability

At some point, FJM may need to acquire some type of liability insurance as a non-profit to protect itself from malicious claims, but this will not be necessary for the immediate future.

Future Organizational Plans and What We Believe

FJ Ministries does not exist to become a large and burdensome organization. It exists as the avenue for Bryan and Tara Riley to minister as missionaries of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to aid other families and individuals to do the same. We envision mobilizing and even funding other families to international missions as the organization grows. As God grows this ministry we will trust Him to provide the organization we need to continue the ministry. We believe that to model missions and to “bring home” what being and doing missions means to others we must first understand it ourselves.

Our statement of faith is as follows:

I. GOD THE FATHER
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. Luke 10:21,22; Matthew 23:9; John 3:16; 6:27; Romans 1:7; I Timothy 1:1,2; 2:5,6; I Peter 1:3; Revelation 1:6

II. JESUS CHRIST
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth. Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1; 20:28; Romans 9:5; 8:46; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:21-23; John 20:30, 31; Matthew 20:28; Ephesians 1:4; Acts 1:11; Romans 5:6-8; 6:9,10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:28; I Timothy 3:16

III. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. John 14:16,17,26; 15:26,27; John 16:9-14; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Galatians 5:22-26

IV. THE WORD OF GOD

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20,21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31,32; John 20:31; Acts 20:32.

V. THE TRINITY
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three person; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption. Genesis 1:1,26; John 1:1,3; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24; Romans 1:19,20; Ephesians 4:5,6

VI. REGENERATION
We believe that humankind was created by God in God’s image; that man and woman sinned and thereby incurred physical, spiritual and eternal death, which is separation from God; that as a consequence, all human beings are born with a sinful nature, choose sin, and are under condemnation. We believe that those who repent and forsake sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become new creatures, delivered from condemnation and receive eternal life. Genesis. 1:26; 5:2; Genesis 3; Genesis 2:17; 3:19; Eccl. 2:11; John 3:14; 5:24; John 5:30; 7:13; 8:12; 10:26;
Romans 9:22; II Thessalonians 1:9; Rev. 19:3,20; 20:10;14,15; 21:18; Psalm 51:7; Jeremiah 17:9; James 1:14; Romans 3:19; 5:19; Proverbs 28:13; I John 1:9; John 3:16; John 1:13; II Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:15-8:45

Moreover, we believe “it is by grace [we are] saved, through faith—and this not from [ourselves], it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:8-10. We also cling to the fact that “if [we] confess with [our] mouth[s], "Jesus is Lord," and believe in [our] heart[s] that God raised him from the dead, [we] will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9-13.

VII. CHRISTIAN CONDUCT
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his fellow men; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. While as humans we will fall short of blamelessness, we praise God that His grace covers all our sin. I Corinthians 10:31; Romans 12:1-3; Hebrews 12:1-2; John 14:15,23-24; I John 2:3-6; II Corinthians 9:6-9; I Corinthians 4:2; Col. 1:9-10; Colossians 1:28-29
