Dear Ones,
January 17 - February 14 were not at all what we expected.  For those who do not know, on January 17th we arrived in the Birmingham, England International airport to learn that we needed different visa documentation.  What this meant for us was five hours detention at the airport (after 15 hours of flights), fingerprintings, and a three-day entry prior to being flown back to the U.S.  Because we rented our home to friends who just returned from the mission field, we moved in with Tara’s parents for 25 days and completed everything we needed to make our return.  So, instead of beginning our work at The King’s Lodge over the past month we have travelled about 14,000 air miles, 1500 driving miles, been on 9 flights, slept in about 6 different locations, been in 4 different countries and been fingerprinted 3 times.
As I prepared to write this letter I read this wonderful passage of scripture from Romans 5:
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

in knowing that God, who is always faithful, prepared our path and paved the way for us.  As written above we know he is growing our perseverance, character, hope, and love.  We were able to visit with friends we hadn’t seen in years in Kansas City as a part of obtaining our visas and we were told by many women in Tara’s Bible Study that God had spoken to them that He had protected us from something in England.  We also now are intimately familiar with the process of obtaining entry into the United Kingdom and feel much better equipped at helping lead others through such processes.  Finally, we found a fantastic travel agent, Eldo Miller, who helped us find our five tickets back to England for $1100 cheaper than we could. They specialize in missions and international adoptions and can be found at http://goldenruletravel.com/. We recommend him. We also were able to sell my car!
Here’s how you can pray for us:
  1. At the end of this month Bryan plans to travel to the Philippines to help prepare for the outreach that will take place there during the summer.  Pray for his safety and finances for the trip.
  2. Beginning in April we will be extremely busy from sunrise until late in the evenings as the next Crossroads Discipleship Training School begins.  We will help lead this training course, the first training course for all aspiring YWAM missionaries.  Then, we will take this group and others (hopefully some of you) to the Philippines and/or South Africa in July and August for outreach.
  3. Financial Support - we receive about $2300 monthly, which is what we need for food and lodging in England (for those who know that is a very good price for England), but it doesn’t cover extra expenses that a family of five incurs, such as insurance, clothing, savings, travel expenses (such as five airline tickets) or even things like accounting fees for our ministry.
  4. Tara will begin homeschooling all three children for the first time.  She also will work in administration for The King’s Lodge.   Pray for organization, wisdom, and patience.  Pray also that our kids will be compliant and teachable!
Much love from the Rileys!
